The firm tap method worked exactly as described on a side window I needed to clear. It's compact enough to keep in the glovebox, and the underhand throw option is a nice backup if you're in a hurry.

Tried the underhand throw on an old sedan window and it shattered on the first try—no wind-up or heavy swing needed. It's compact enough to keep in the door pocket, and the firm tap method works just as cleanly.

Kept this tucked in my glovebox for a couple weeks and finally had to try it on an old windshield at the salvage yard. That underhand throw did the job with a firm tap—way less force than I expected, and the glass practically showered out.
