Learn how to securely mount the HSGI Extended Pistol/Baton TACO pouch to your belt for quick access to magazines, flashlights, or batons.

Quick answer

Weave the included HSGI Clips through your belt and the MOLLE panel on the pouch, then snap the clips closed for a secure, rattle-free mount.

Why belt mounting works for this pouch

The Extended Pistol / Baton TACO is designed to hold high-capacity magazines, flashlights, or collapsible batons. Mounting it on your belt keeps those items within easy reach without adding bulk to your plate carrier.

Unlike MOLLE-only attachments, a belt mount lets you adjust the pouch's position laterally and remove it quickly when you switch gear setups.

Trade-off: belt width and clip compatibility

The HSGI Clips work best with belts up to 2 inches wide. Thicker or padded belts may require you to loosen the clips or use a different mounting method. Test the fit before loading the pouch.

Steps to attach the TACO pouch to your belt

  1. 1. Prepare the pouch and belt: Lay the pouch face up on a flat surface. Ensure your belt is unbuckled or loose enough to thread the clips through. If your belt has a stiffener, remove it temporarily. Checkpoint: Confirm your belt width does not exceed 2 inches; wider belts may not fit through the clip openings.
  2. 2. Thread the first HSGI Clip: Take one HSGI Clip and slide the flat end under your belt from the inside out. Then weave the same end through the MOLLE webbing on the back of the pouch, starting from the top slot. Pull the clip until the snap end is on the outside of the belt. Common mistake: Inserting the clip backward. The snap must face away from your body so you can open it without twisting.
  3. 3. Secure the clip: Press the snap end of the clip firmly until it clicks. Give the pouch a gentle tug to ensure the clip holds. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the second clip on the adjacent MOLLE row. Checkpoint: If the clip feels loose, reposition it to a tighter weave row. The pouch should not slide when you pull it horizontally.
  4. 4. Test the fit and adjust: Re-buckle your belt and wear the setup. Insert a magazine or flashlight into the pouch. Draw it a few times to check retention. If the pouch tilts, re-weave the clips at a different angle or add a third clip through a lower MOLLE row. Final check: The pouch should stay upright during movement. If it wobbles, the clips may need tightening or a different mounting location.
