Learn what the Velocity Quad 5.56 SWIFTCLIP Placard is, how it attaches to plate carriers, and how to configure it for modular gear setups.

Quick answer

The Velocity Quad 5.56 SWIFTCLIP® Placard is a lightweight, quick-attach/detach magazine carrier that clips onto plate carriers or vests using the SwiftClip system, allowing you to swap weapon systems without removing your other gear.

Why choose a placard over a full chest rig?

A placard is smaller and lighter than a full chest rig. It attaches directly to the front of a plate carrier or vest, so you keep your radio, medical kit, and other pouches in place when you switch calibers or mission roles. The trade-off is less total capacity—this placard holds four 5.56 magazines instead of the six or eight a dedicated chest rig might carry.

What gear is compatible?

The placard uses upward-facing male buckles that clip into the female SwiftClip receivers found on most modern plate carriers and tactical vests. If your carrier lacks a SwiftClip front flap, you can add a separate adapter panel. The placard itself does not include the female receivers—verify compatibility before purchase.

Frequently asked questions

How do I attach the placard to my carrier?
Align the male buckles on the placard with the female SwiftClip receivers on your carrier's chest. Push each buckle until you hear a positive click. To remove, press the release tabs on the sides of the male buckles and pull the placard away.
How do I adjust magazine retention?
The placard uses shock cord with a cord lock. Pull the cord lock away from the magazine to loosen tension, or slide it toward the magazine to tighten. Test by inserting a magazine—it should stay in during movement but come out with a firm tug.
Can I use this placard for a different caliber?
The placard is designed for 5.56 magazines. For larger calibers like 7.62, the magazine width and length may not fit securely. Velocity makes dedicated placards for other calibers—check those if you need to run a different weapon system. If you plan to switch calibers often, consider buying a second placard for the alternate round so you can swap the whole front in seconds.
